Viola Pica

Viola Pica is a highly perceptive interior designer with an in-depth interest towards an interdisciplinary approach to architecture. Her priorities and passions stem from giving a new meaning to existing structures, as well as renovating important buildings in relation to the psychology behind the effects of a space on visitors. Her fascination with architectural works that express themselves as a human extension has helped her mould the overall visitor/client experience in her academic projects. She has always had a critical eye for detail, believing that every architectural space should act as a storytelling device that guides the visitor’s eye to experience the place to its fullest.

Her academic projects have always placed emphasis on the importance of the experience conveyed throughout the constructed spaces as well as the value of balance between elements that make up a structure. The culmination of the development of her skills is shown in her Final Major Project, which consisted of the refurbishing of the oldest structure in Catford: The Catford Constitutional Club. The newly named building, 'Story of Storeys', has been transformed into a storytelling art centre that reshapes the meaning of museums and galleries by channelling the themes in a chosen book ('La Boutique del Mistero') as inspiration for the architectural expressions and installations.
