Helena Lesniakowska

Helena Lesniakowska is a conceptual designer driven by the idea of merging reality with the fantastical. Specialising in womenswear, she hopes to reconstruct the complex forms of the human body and push the boundaries of the fabrics she works with. Expertly handcrafted textiles and an eye for creative pattern cutting enhance her work, inviting the viewer into a world of her own design. Her final collection titled “KLEKS” draws inspiration from her Polish heritage through the book “Akademia Pana Kleksa” by Jan Brzechwa. Professor Kleks (loosely translated to Inkblot) runs an academy for children in which rather than disciplining them with the standard education system he simply “opens up their minds and pours a little oil in them”. Much like how we use oil to get things working, he pushes the gears in their brains to start to analyse the world in their own ways, unhindered by the rules of the adult world. As even his name suggests, Mr Inkblot understands and embraces all mistakes, turning them into beautiful philosophies. “I wanted this collection to be both considerate and playful, I am not afraid to grow up but I never want to lose this childish part of myself and so I implemented it all into my final collection.”
