Ciara McGlynn

Ciara McGlynn's concept Is about the body beyond physicality. McGlynn wanted to explore the mind and matter that we are made up of, particularly focusing in on how being a human is much more than what we see.

McGlynn wanted to explore this fourth dimension of the body that is created from the mind, a complex structure that has no fixed physical form and thoughts can be bent and morphed into feelings.

McGlynn's final outcome explores the matter that we are made up of, looking at how we are made up of the same substance as stars and galaxies — combining the formation of stars and nebulae with the abstract formation of the mind to create a garment that Is a physical representation of the metaphysical.

Experimenting with techniques that she had not used before, like 3D printing and fabric manipulation to display dynamic forms of the body, McGlynn also wanted to expand off the body creating a structure that completely manipulates and disfigures the figure.

The aim for this project is to show the beauty beyond what we see in the reflection and that we shouldn’t define ourselves based on our physical form.

McGlynn plans to progress onto a BA Fashion course.
