Bridget Devine

Bridget Devine is a hard-working, driven student who has over the course of the Foundation year excelled as a designer. She was presented with an award for collaboration, sharing good practice and peer support due to her dedication to the course and initiative shown in the Industry group project. Devine's team won this project because of the clear creative direction and communication between the talented team members. She is a passionate storyteller through her designs and based her Final Major Project on a novel to show her love for literature. Next year Devine is going to Central Saint Martins to study Fashion Journalism which she hopes will allow her to explore another form of creativity through writing, while considering all she had learned about fashion design.

Final Major Project Outcome
Final Major Project OutcomeDevine's Final Major Project garments depict the liminal space between physical appearance and the internal moral compass, inspired by the Gothic novel, 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'. The embroidered and laser-cut flora designs that contort into decay-like silhouettes are inspired by natural imagery within the novel and incorporate the idea of youth and beauty decaying.
Fashion Illustrations
Fashion IllustrationsThese are some observational fashion illustrations where Devine explored different mediums. She found the most effective ones to be fine-liners, markers, watercolours and occasionally charcoals to add texture and depth to the drawings. This helped along with her continuous line style of drawings to create her own artistic narrative in her illustrations.
Final Shoot for Industry Project
Final Shoot for Industry ProjectAs allocated Accessories Designer in the industry group project, Devine made both the tote bag and bowling bag for the House of Holland rebranding shoot. She directed the shoot with a vision that spoke to the brands heritage from the early 2000s when it was popular as a transgressive, queer brand. As of recent years it lacked the same vibe so it was rebranded with 'queer grunge' that was playful but also desirable when thinking about the colour choices, fabrics, models and overall shoot.
Design Developments for Live Project
Design Developments for Live ProjectThis is one of Devine's sketchbook pages from the Pajotten Live project where she was looking at designing a collection inspired by historical miners workwear in line with the brands own designs. She incorporated the same functionality, fit and overall look of the workwear to create her final designs.
