Abby Edwards
Abby Edwards is a multidisciplinary graphic designer from Devon, now based in London. Edwards uses design to explore a range of concepts from digital campaigns to print and publishing lead projects. With a key passion for editorial print design Edwards's projects often take a focus on type and imagery layouts. Through experimentation at Ravensbourne University Edwards has developed a keen interest in digital design through motion and creating new brand identities / campaigns to convey messages through design.
Final Major Project Medical Glorification – Part one explores three films, The Wolf Of Wall Street, Requiem For A Dream and Limitless. Part two explores visual association through patterns. Addiction (blue) is an archive collection of scenes from each film with corresponding script text to analyse the language and imagery of how we visually absorb medication. Prescription (RED) is an exploration on how medicine has become a visual aesthetic, explored through colour / shape association created with riso printing.
Women of War – This project focused on the redesign of one piece of text based on the “Myth of Amazonian Women”, which I redesigned to create 3 physical print outcomes. This first outcome explored type hierarchy and two tone imagery representing women during the war, produced as a broadsheet piece.
Wild and Untamed – This outcome was focused on female criminals, using 3D anaglyph design techniques to create juxtaposing images and type within the images and text layout.
Faking It Campaign – Faking It was a guerrilla style social media campaign highlighting online dating safety.
Our campaign was a collaborative project for the 2022 Creative Conscience briefs, where we created poster designs, stickers and social media content. Our sticker designs were produced to be applied to popular dating apps to remind individuals to “verify yourself” in order to promote user safety. The designs can be found on Instagram as story stickers with @fakingitcampaign to further push our message across social media.
Ravensbourne Pin Badge – Pin for the GRA course at Ravensbourne University, offered to students and visitors of the University.
